Errors & limits
Status codes, monthly quota, and how long Speck stores geolocation and demographics payloads.
Status codes
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
401 | Missing or invalid API key. |
400 | Private or malformed IP, or a 5-digit ZIP is required. |
404 | No demographics for that ZIP. |
402 | Trial expired. Choose a paid volume to continue. |
429 | Monthly quota exceeded. |
502 | Geolocation lookup failed. |
503 | Demographics temporarily unavailable. |
Quota
The 7-day trial includes 1,000 successful calls. After that, one paid plan scales with additional credits. Successful responses count against the quota. 4xx and 5xx do not. See pricing.
Caching
Geolocation is stored for 7 days. Demographics payloads are stored for 30 days, keyed by ZIP. Cached hits still count against quota.
